It's taken me a while to come up with an official position on Lady Gaga. I admit, I have gotten a little sucked in at times (alexander skarsgard's role in that one video), however I have always kept a skeptical eye open, and I have finally decided for sure that what she's doing is really a gimmick. She wears crazy costumes, but they really aren't original (alexander mcqueen, ect), she is just going for shock value. Her videos have nothing on the artists she is ripping off, namely Bjork and Fever Ray's Karin Dreijer Andersson. And her music is catchy, but it's not really interesting or different. Unfortunately her gimmick worked, she has caught the press and college aged girls and made them...gaga. But I guess thats what makes Andersson so much better, her desire to stay out of the media and press...and only in the hearts of the coolest college aged girls.
